THE SOUND The Javelinas is a Rockin’ Blues trio from Dallas, Texas rooted in music from the late 60’s and early 70’s that defined the Lone Star Sound. It’s powerful! This is a band with a pure rock foundation often missing in today’s music. There are no backing tracks, synths, or samples. Only originals with deep covers from artists ranging from Lonesome Sundown, Dallas’ own Nightcaps and ZZ Top. The groups originals are bare bone jaunts with guitar driven hooks, driving bass and a fat groove. THE BAND Kinley Wolfe on bass is a longtime journeyman who grew up in Memphis, Tennesse. Kinley joined Black Oak Arkansas in 1980 where his first gig was playing in front of 80,000 in Mexico City. He later moved to Dallas and joined famed Texas guitarist Rocky Athas’ outfit. Wolfe then went on to form the band Lord Tracy, which ex-Pantera vocalist Terry Glaze later joined. They signed with UNI Records/MCA and toured extensively until the band broke up in 1991. From there Kinley joined The Cult during the bands’ most popular period. He left in 1994 and moved back to Texas where he formed the legendary Dallas rock band, American Fuse, which is still active to this day. Kinley is the foundation of the Javelinas’ groove, pushing the band and providing the groove and energy. Drummer Taz Bentley is another Texas music legend. Born and raised in Dallas, Taz is well known for his work in Reverend Horton Heat, one of the first American Psychobilly bands whose first single, “Psycobilly Freakout” helped introduce American audiences to the genre. After leaving Reverend Horton Heat in the mid 90’s Taz went on to play and record with Guns N’ Roses members Izzy Stradlin and Duff McKagen in their solo ventures along with forming the Burden Brothers with Toadies’ frontman, Vaden Lewis. In the last few years, Taz has also fronted his own band Hell, TX where he is the primary songwriter/frontman. Adding to all of this, Taz has also recorded with American Fuse, Matt Cameron, Loaded, Tenderloin and many others. Pat Boyack, vocalist/guitarist was born and raised in Carbon County, Utah. The high desert of central eastern Utah was a beautiful but lonely place, so Pat moved to Dallas in 1991 to be a musician and to follow the music of Jimmie and Stevie Ray Vaughan. By 1993, Boyack had formed the Prowlers and the next year signed a three record deal with Bullseye Blues/Rounder Records. By 2000, Pat dissolved the Prowlers and joined Austin boogie woogie legend Marcia Ball, who he spent 6 ½ years with touring the world and recording three records. All three were nominated for Grammys and won W.C. Handy Awards. During this time he also recorded with Doyle Bramhall. After being tired of just being a sideman Pat decided to take up singing and became the front man of Pat Boyack and Those Pesky Javelinas. It was during this time that Boyack started writing heavily and eventually after working with Kinley then Taz evolved his current project into The Javelinas.
